On her birthday a decent present should be given some careful consideration.
The difficulty arises when buying birthday presents.
Women expect something more original than a box of chocolates and a bunch of flowers.
To make sure that you avoid disappointing her think about the things that she really likes and the things that she most enjoys doing. If she has a hobby there are numerous sites on the internet where you can buy the full package for a day out for whichever experience you think she will prefer.
It may of course not be your wife or girlfriend that you are buying a present for but a female relative. It can be a little more difficult selecting their birthday presents. Women who enjoy gardening may like some unusual plants; it is only by doing your research that you are going to find out all of these small details. If the present is to be a surprise you could ask one of their closer relatives for ideas of something that they may like.
You do not necessarily need to buy a physical item, a day out or a new experience is something out of the ordinary. Perhaps she has a favourite artist or band, you could purchase some tickets for a concert, if they are performing some distance away why not book a night in a hotel too? Does she buy a regular magazine? Consider an annual subscription, a small gesture but a considerate one. Or, if going out for dinner, this time go to a first class restaurant.
Antiques are a good idea for someone who collects them or for someone that you know would like one. It is important to do your research beforehand on this one as this can be a risky area as antiques can be a very personal taste.
Some people are also partial to collectibles such as crystal glassware, these make good presents for someone to give who has no idea what to buy, as by their very nature people collect them and so are always on the lookout for more.
Also consider a gift certificate, although these may be seen as a last resort when you can’t think of anything else to buy someone, they can be more than this if you choose the right place for the right person from which to purchase them. If she has a favourite store then this may be the obvious choice. You can also find out about where she likes to shop from her relatives. If buying for your girlfriend or wife find out somewhere she has always wanted to shop, perhaps a designer store in the west end of London?
Regardless of what you decide upon for her, once you give a gift that is representative of her interests it will demonstrate how much you care for her.
